The Congress on Thursday appointed former Jawaharlal Nehru University scholars ’ Union president Kanhaiya Kumar as the AICC in- charge of its scholars ’ side.

Kumar had participated in the Rahul Gandhi- led Bharat Jodo Yatra and walked the entire distance from Kanyakumari to Kashmir.
Who’s Kanhaiya Kumar?
Born in 1987, Kanhaiya Kumar began getting involved in pupil politics in 2007 at the Patna College of Commerce.
In September 2015, he served as the chairman of the Jawaharlal Nehru University scholars’ Union( JNUSU) and the leader of the All India Students Federation( AISF).
In 2021, Kumar joined the Congress from the Communist Party of India( CPI). After joining the party he’d said, “ I’m joining Congress because it’s not just a party, it’s an idea. It’s the country’s oldest and most popular party, and I’m emphasising on’ popular’. Not just me numerous suppose that country can not survive without Congress. ”
Kanhaiya has frequently participated stage at several political rallies with other youthful leaders including Jignesh Mevani and Hardik Patel. He’s know for his sharp notice against the PM Modi- led government.
In 2016, he was arrested by the Delhi Police over the charges of sedition in an event at the JNU lot.
