Delhi Braces for Another Flood Spell as Yamuna Breaches Danger Mark at 206.31 Meters.

Must Read

India’s capital city of Delhi is at risk of a catastrophe as of July 23, 2023, when the Yamuna river crosses a dangerous threshold and reaches a water level of 206.31 meters. Numerous citizens were forced to leave the city due to this unique scenario, which has impacted daily life in the city. The city’s infrastructure and public safety are seriously threatened by the flooding, which was brought on by the intense monsoon rains that fell over northern India.

The Yamuna river’s overflow is currently causing major floods in Delhi, which is home to almost 30 million people. Thousands of people have been evacuated from low-lying regions by the authorities, who also ordered all schools and colleges to remain closed until the situation has been brought under control. Homes, key roads, and even some of the city’s subway system have been swamped by the intense flooding, causing terrible traffic congestion and disrupting daily life.

About 16,000 residents have already been evacuated from high-risk locations as part of the Delhi Government’s response to the disaster, which has led to the preparation of almost 2,000 shelters for those left homeless by the floods. Arvind Kejriwal, the chief minister, has asked people to stay at home and take the appropriate safety measures. Despite these efforts, the water level is still rising quickly, making relief efforts and public safety difficult.
