Now passengers will be allowed to carry two sealed bottles of liquor on all metro lines, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation( DMRC) said Friday.
A review commission comprising CISF and DMRC officers revised the list of banned particulars which banned carrying alcohol before. Passengers were before allowed to carry alcohol only on the Airport Express Line.
Still, consumption of alcohol and/ or being drunk within metro demesne is still a punishable offence.
The rule to not allow carrying alcohol in the Metro has been at the centre of debates for numerous times. The change in rules also means that one can now but liquor from NCR municipalities similar as Gurgaon and Faridabad and carry it into Delhi on the metro.

Responding to a Twitter stoner’s query, which has now been deleted, the sanctioned handle of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation( DMRC) twittered, “ 2 sealed bottles of alcohol is allowed in Delhi Metro( sic). ”
Drinking alcohol inside metro demesne is still rigorously banned, it said. Metro passengers are requested to maintain proper form while travelling, the DMRC added.
